Are you more of a productivity professional or a busy bee? Is there a difference? (Hell yeah there is).
Ever feel like you’re in a constant state of “catching up”? Maybe you’re staying busy, but that doesn’t mean you’re being productive. Our mindset towards “busy bee” vs. “productivity pro” can greatly affect how efficiently we take on tasks.
Let’s look at how a productive mindset can help level you up, shall we?
-
VISION
What does your vision have to do with being productive? Well, your outlook on life currently vs. your idealized future is a great example of what your vision means to you. What does the vision for your entire life look like? If you aren’t sure, that’s completely okay! There is no better time to begin visualizing your future than today. Our vision doesn’t have to be crystal clear, but having a cloudy mindset can surely lead us into chaos. A productive mindset has the opposite effect. My last post gave insight on how to build a growth mindset – where the power of vision truly breaks through. Productivity needs to have a goal, and end-point, a purpose! Without some sort of vision, productivity is essentially running around in circles until you’re hungry or something. Awful example, but my point is made. Break down your vision by the project you’re working on, or by day, or any criteria that best fits your needs! Adding a sense of meaning to what you’re doing will make it more likely for you to desire to accomplish it.

PERSISTENCE
If you fail once, what do you do? Is one failure enough of a trigger to make you quit the entire goal you set out to conquer? Hopefully not. Instead, you persist on. Your driven mindset keeps your foot on the pedal and you stand back up. Persistence shows through your actions – because words hold no weight when we’re discussing your future. Act on it.
In life, there will be situations that don’t go in your favor – more than you’d like to accept and more than you feel is fair. As difficult as it seems now, those are the perfect situations for persistence and perseverance to take the wheel (while your foot is still on the pedal). It’s 100% easier to complain about the world and quit believing in a purpose, but that mentality is what will ensure your lack of growth. There will be times when the negative situations are completely your fault, too. The most important part is to hold yourself accountable, recognize where you could have improved, and implement the next step to your life. Set yourself apart by being one of the few individuals who take responsibility for their futures. Your newfound productive mindset thanks you.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE
A positive attitude is by no means the most important thing on this list – but it will leverage the success of the list exponentially. Why would you intentionally want to be in a negative headspace, you know? You wouldn’t, but maybe you have pessimistic tendencies and thinking habits. (Get a hold on those, by the way). Minor annoyances or miniscule inconveniences occur all the time (as you should expect in life…), but we can’t allow those situations to dictate our mindset for the rest of the day. It’s illogical and isn’t fair to you, anyways. You have much better things to focus on that are significantly more important in life – remember that. What’s productive about dwelling on things that don’t even matter?
Find something to laugh about, smile about, or be hopeful for in the near future. Ask someone what the best part of their week has been – they’ll be glad you asked (statistically speaking, people love talking about themselves). A positive attitude should not come off as a chore in your life. Chores have negative connotations around them, and negativity the last thing we want to attribute with positivity – obviously.

GET A ROUTINE
Getting some sort of consistency in your life will revolutionize your potential. May I tell you the best part? Consistency costs $0.00! For the rest of forever! The only cost of consistency is the effort you’re willing to put into your growth. If you’re serious about it, this will be 0% an issue, and should be used as motivation. A consistent routine sets our brains and our expectations in a parallel bond, and that productive mindset will shift into gear. That “flow state” that people speak often about is the real deal. By the way…those who exercise before work are 15% more productive during their workday, according to American Psychological Association. Putting in some physical activity before working isn’t only great for your overall health, but also for your productivity! Win-win, baby!
Creating a routine may sound like a task in itself….and it is, but the outcomes over the long-term are exceptional. Value your time – never allow negative and useless consumption of media steal your life from you.
What I’m getting at:
Your desired future is not attainable if you put in 0 effort. A productive mindset catapults you to levels you’ve never seen before. Of course we’ll face difficulties along the way, but we’d also face difficulties in life regardless. Believe in a better life, be productive and proactive for it. I can’t wait to see where you’ll be 6 months from now. Level up.
